the may stories have probably been sent out by now, which means month five is in the (literal) books. with how busy both of us were last month, the stories came out very well. actually, they came out pretty darn good for just writing two stories. derek spent 22 days drawing up blueprints to a stairway and i wrote another story that i think could go from short story to a much longer story in the future.
and with that, i now present our next month’s topic –
there isn’t one.
that’s right, there’s no actual topic for our stories. instead, derek and i have the (probably insane) idea to just sit down and start writing whatever comes to mind. at approximately 750 words we are going to stop and send the story to each other. once that happens, the other person is going to finish it off.
now, derek and i have known each other for a long time. we know what each other’s strengths and weaknesses are. with that in mind, i’m sure that the stories we give to each other are absolutely not going to be anything in our normal comfort zone of writing.
i’m not saying that i’m going to write a story about an eastern european jewish family as they split up to make the voyage from home to a new life in america. what i am saying is that i probably will write something along those lines. one thing’s for certain – derek will be given a full character list with *gasp* normal names!
sadly, i have a feeling i’m going to be finishing a story about Bergle McLarfy and his pet frog Jkgdsltphfr.
