so for the past 10 days i’m the only one in my house who hasn’t been sick. first my 3 year old got pink eye, then my 5 month old got pink eye, then my wife got pink eye, then my 3 year old got a stomach virus, then my wife got a stomach virus, then my wife got pink eye (again) and now my 5 month old has pink eye (again). how have i not gotten sick? i have no idea. but that leads to my problem –
it’s already the 14th and i have done pretty much nothing on my story.
tonight i sat down for the first time to start doing some research on various things (derek stop reading here)
so after brainstorming, all i could really come up with for my story is this – in order to prove to the police that he wasn’t the one to commit a crime, the main character has to give his alibi. his alibi is that he committed some other crime.
the research i’ve been doing so far is just on average penalties for various crimes. i need to make the main crime something severe enough that the sentence has the potential to be huge, whereas the confessed crime would only put him away for 12-18 months tops. something that stinks, and he would have to think about confessing, but something that in the grand scheme of things is much, much less than what he may be facing.
it’s going to be a rough writing process because this weekend is completely booked up with the GSW reunion shows and my eldest son’s 3rd birthday party. when will i get a chance to write? who knows. looks like another month of cramming in some writing time during breaks at work and late at night.
